Peppercorn enjoying her first Friday.
Rejection one. I received a call from the principal of the first school and he said that they had an existing staff member who had been doing part of the job and had said they didn’t want to apply, but had now changed their mind and so they had given the job to her.
Why don’t they sort internal things out before they advertise? Once advertised, why does the staff member have precedence? And such a staff member doesn’t seem very motivated if they have to be courted into taking the position, or only want it when they see it disappearing before their eyes.
It is so annoying to have my time and energy wasted, and hopes dashed.
That said, it wasn’t my position of choice. That is still undecided, so hopes can live. I sent a “day after” email of thanks and recapping all my wonderful talents and skills to the principal of said school this morning. A little shameless self promotion never hurts anyone!
Also, late today I received an invitation to interview for another position. This is a contract position, for three terms. They insisted on interviewing during school time, so I am going to have to ask for time off from class. Most inconsiderate as most schools arrange it outside of school hours. Not thinking of the candidate, or the fact that their employer school might not be impressed about their absence. Luckily, my school is aware that I am interviewing for new year, so I don’t have to lie.
It is a crazy process. I wish it would come to an end soon. TGIF it is Friday, I may just go drown my head in a large pot of tea!
